Lavender Mist Farms sits on a 32-acre property in the heart of Derry Ridge located in the scenic LaurelHighlands and makes for a stunning site for hosting private events such as weddings, graduation parties, baby showers, wedding showers, rehearsal dinners, family reunions, a painting class, a yoga class, a gardening class, arranging professional photography sessions, or simply visiting this tranquil and breathtakingly beautiful part of Pennsylvania. Two professionals; one a finance professor at a local University and the other an architect at a Pittsburgh firm; Debi and Mark sought out to make their lives in the country away from everything they had ever known. Debi’s passion for flowers and the peace and quiet fueled her desire to find a way to make a living in a place surrounded by nature. Debi’s love for Lavender and the time for introspection and reflection afforded by the pandemic to all of us galvanized the idea of a lavender farm. Debi and her husband Mark moved to Ligonier in spring 2021 and immediately got busy prepping the field for lavender cultivation in 2022. Their efforts also included cleaning up the beautiful but neglected acres of pasture and orchard, renovating the barn to be a café/store and small event venue that they could share with others, and figuring out how to upscale their property maintenance skills from their previous 27’x30’ yard to 32 acres… yikes! The one thing they couldn’t and wouldn’t change is the mist-covered ridges and wooded landscape that surrounds this “little slice of heaven on the ridge”.
